Recap of the Creative Blend student event

As a graphic design student, one of the best things I can do for myself right now is to network and meet professionals in my area. I’ve wondered how to meet other graphic designers that are already doing what I want to do and when I learned about AIGA, I knew that was a great resource to do just that. AIGA, and more specifically the Triad North Carolina chapter, are providing so many opportunities for students to meet with, and talk to professionals. The most recent event held was Creative Blend at Common Grounds Coffee in Greensboro North Carolina.

There was a great turn out of both students and professionals. Everyone that came was very nice and wanted to help give us guidance. Every professional graphic designer or company owner told us how they got started and some of the decisions they made to get them where they are now. They all gave great advice, and were very welcoming of us students. I think I can speak for all the students there and say we learned a lot. It was a very positive and enlightening experience for a student to be able to ask someone, who has been in our shoes before, questions that will help guide us to where we want to be in the future.

It was a wonderful experience that I was very grateful for. These designers took time out of there schedule to talk to students they don’t even know. AIGA is a great organization that wants to inspire designers on every level. Our Triad North Carolina Chapter has taken great strides to get our graphic design community together in many different ways, and Creative Blend, and all other events they put together, really help to bring us together to learn and grow creatively. I know that I will be attending more events to come, and I encourage other students to come out as well! Thanks for the great eventsĀ AIGA Triad North Carolina!
